Working within a listed building brings a level of responsibility that goes beyond standard commercial tiling — and the Bromley hotel conversion is one of the projects we're most proud of delivering.

The scheme saw a historic town hall transformed into a high-end hotel, with SGB Contractors responsible for the full supply and fix tiling package across 30 bedrooms and over 15 communal areas. Given the age and heritage of the building, substrate preparation was critical: full tanking was carried out to all wet areas and Ditra matting installed throughout to accommodate the movement inherent in an old structure — protecting the tiled finish for years to come.

The tile specification itself reflected the premium nature of the project. Complex small format tiles and intricate herringbone patterns were used throughout, requiring a high degree of skill and patience to execute to the standard the scheme demanded. In a building of this character, there is no room for shortcuts — every joint, every line, and every cut had to be right.

The result is a stunning finish that honours the history of the building whilst delivering the quality expected of a high-end hotel environment. A project that truly showcases what this team is capable of.
